Agritechnica 2007

Controlled Traffic Farming is to be featured in the World Soil and Tillage Show at Agritechnica 2007 in Hannover, Germany (WSTS). Hosted by CTF Europe Ltd it is being supported by Unilever, John Dale Zero Till, Farmade Management Systems and John Deere. The aim of the stand is to raise the profile of CTF and bring it to the notice of farmers and growers who will be the ones to gain most from its adoption. At the moment, CTF is the only system that can reduce grower's operating costs - cutting machinery investment and fuel and labour costs - while improving crop yields and fertilizer use efficiency. It can also reduce the negative environmental impact of farming - building on the reliability of conservation tillage techniques to conserve carbon and reduce greenhouse gases. For example savings on fuel mean less carbon produced and better soil health means more carbon stored and fewer emissions of nitrous oxide and methane. CTF also improves water infiltration and drainage and increases plant available water.

There is nothing complicated about CTF - it's merely a case of introducing permanent traffic lanes that take up the least possible proportion of the cropped area.

Visitors to the stand will be given key messages and presented with material that shows how they can adopt the system themselves, often at little or no cost other than some imaginative thinking and forward planning. Growers will be encouraged to join the network of first adopters and to be helped by the experiences of others and be supported by CTF Europe Ltd whose mission is to improve the profitability and sustainability of all crop production systems (see CTF Europe Ltd page).
